Yom Kippur

night after Yom Kippur, 11 Tishrei, 5775 Jerusalem

Yom Kippur was nicer than expected. I walked in to the Kotel in the evening, to join Moshe Rothkoph’s minyan there. Afterwards studied a little at Aish HaTorah, then walked home. Emek Refaim filled with all types of young people talking and milling about. Weird. Not particularly holy ambiance.

Woke up around 7:30. Mosque in nearby Jerusalem neighborhood was breaking the Yom Kippur silence by blasting anxious rhetoric for 45 minutes. They did it last year too. May Hashem help them to do teshuva. The Police certainly don’t seem to respond. Our police are “see no evil, speak no evil, do no nothing”. They should do teshuva too.

Went to Kehillat Eztion minyan at Bet Ar El in Baka and stayed there all day, reading and napping in chair outside under the carob tree during the break. Felt good all day, like I could fast another day at end. Prayers not particularly moving, but did do some teshuva in my heart, and spoke them with my mouth, and feel purer and clean.
